Aw, this was an extremely good post. Finding the time and actual effort to make a superb article… but what can I say… I hesitate a lot and don't seem to get nearly anything done.|...

Linda, I read this and I knew exactly what you said. I was sick with the flu for a week and half..unfortunately both of my parents got the flu also. I am my mothers caregiver, so while I was trying to rest and get better i had to take care of both my parents too. My family went to the store for me but left everything at the door so they didn't get sick..it is hard when u are a caregiver and you have to take care of them and yourself but we got thru it.

I know that it is terrible that I have not gotten back to you. Sorry. You are right of course, sometimes you can't judge a book by it's cover. I have received similar responses verbally from others. Sometimes healthy looking people have problems too. The one's I object to are the teenage girls in high heels or boys with there earbuds blaring that come out of the handicapped stalls.

This is the first time I have ever visited this site and I will admit, I haven't read much of it but I just felt compelled to comment regarding the use of handicap stalls. I am a 49-year old woman WITH MS and I'm sure on the outside, I look perfectly fine and healthy. However, I do have significant issues with my balance and much of the time, I find it very helpful to use a handicap stall, which has a handrail. I'm sure people have formed their opinion of me as well as I have walked out of that stall because I don't have a sign that says "handicapped" anywhere on me. All I am saying, is be careful NOT TO JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!!

That is just terrible and I would speak your mind at this point as I get so ticked off at stupid people that would rather laugh & point vs asking what's wrong with you or why are you in a wheelchair.

My wife is from Worcester, MA & NY, NY she has a very hot temper still and she gets right in the face of anyone that is talking crap about us as I take care of her but with my PTSD I get upset easy in public places where people get in my face my dog helps me out but then I get the well you don't look sick crap again.

Really hate it when people see my wife in her electric chair one day but walking another so they say we are fakers and other nasty names. Sorry for my rant but the general public needs to just grow up and learn about all medical conditions and think what they would feel like if they are in the shoes of the elderly or in a chair and see if they like being called names and pointed at...

Linda, This has been an amazing week for Jane and new adaptive equipment. Monday, her new hands free, voice activated telephone arrived. We have the phone list in and it is recognizing her voice commands. Today the wheel chair folks added a new controller to try for a couple of weeks. This is a "sip and puff" mechanism. Until she gets her wind built up, she may go in circles a bit but she is making progress already.
